HISTORY of the Swan Inn

The Swan has stood on Wood Street since 1898, a fixture of the city centre through more than a century of change. It's long been known for its love of rock and metal, with a jukebox that's kept the tradition alive for generations of regulars.

For decades it's been the natural starting point before a night out, sending drinkers on to Sloanes, Wilson's and later the Krazyhouse. Bikers claimed it as their own through the seventies and eighties, and it's welcomed an easygoing, unpretentious crowd ever since. New owners have recently taken over, keeping everything that makes it the Swan.

Used to spend days here back in the late 1970's. Called in for the first time in 30 years and delighted to find it had the same great rock music, brilliant beer and was still packed on a Saturday afternoon. If you like good beer this is a must.
